I Corinthians 3:11-15 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
There is a powerful lesson in the gospel of “Four Carrying One Sick of the Palsy”. This is the inability to move part or all of the body, usually with involuntary tremors. In other words, what he wanted to do, he could not. And if there was movement, he could not control it. Sounds like many of us! But thank God this poor man had four friends who carried him to Jesus! May I tell you who his four friends were?
- Love – Affection, Giving of Self, Goods, All!
- Faith – Moral Conviction, Trust in God
- Hope – Expectation or Confidence
- Choice – God given!
These are the four friends each Christian must have in his/her life in order to get to Jesus. Sometimes, life gets complicated and we find that what use to work is not working and what was not a challenge (or problem) is now a major concern! What is standing between you and Jesus?
- Crowds of flesh – opinions, opposition, obstructions
- Wood – Pride of Revelation
- Hay – Pride of Redemption
- Stubble – Pride of Satisfaction
When all of these obstacles are standing between you and your deliverance, you have to take drastic measures (spiritually speaking). His four friends (Love, Faith, Hope and Choice) found another way to get to Jesus by tearing up something! When the normal paths are blocked by worldly opinions, conversations of doubts and opposition, your love, faith, hope and choice will carry you to the real treasure in this life, Jesus Christ!
- Gold – God’s Will of Revelation
- Silver – God’s Will of Redemption
- Precious Stones – God’s Will of Satisfaction
