Have you ever read Philippians 4:8? I mean really dug down into it and read it out loud? “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Wow! Paul did not say act out these things or pick and choose your favorites. He said to “think” on these things! In a word, to think means to take inventory.
Why is it so hard to say things like, “I love you!” “I am sorry!” “I was wrong!” “You did a great job, I am so proud of you!” “How can I help you today?” “Will you forgive me?”or “I forgive you!”
It starts with taking inventory. When you do an inventory in the business world, you are checking for what is truly in stock and not just on paper. Sometimes an item is sold, stolen or misplaced without being recorded and the only way to catch it is through the inventory process. Have you inventoried your spiritual goods? Has something been misplaced, stolen by the enemy of righteousness or just depleted because of the wear and tear of life?
Do a spiritual checkup and ask yourself, why is the good thing so hard to do and the wrong thing so easy? Once you get the answer, go to Jesus, the Living Word of God. He will restore you and make it easy to do the right thing!
