Characteristic of Fairness
I Samuel 12:3 – Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.
Verse Three – “whom have I oppressed?” – Hebrew word for oppressed is raw-tsats, which means to break, bruise, crush, discourage, oppress, or to struggle together. Samuel asked the nation of Israel to judge his administration of nearly 50 years and tell him when he did anything to discourage or oppressed any of them. There are some leaders who will pick on the poor or the voiceless because they can easily take from them. However, Samuel was fair with all of Israel.
